Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the typical amount of time I will
need to take off from work for cosmetic surgery?
This varies greatly depending on which procedure you are having, and also
the extent of the surgery. Please email
us at
info@barringtonplasticsurgery.com
for a more accurate estimate, based on your age and the procedure you
are interested in.
What
types of medications should I avoid prior to my surgery?
We will provide you with an extensive list of what to avoid once you schedule
your surgery, but the big ones to avoid at least two weeks prior to your
surgery date include sun exposure, alcohol, aspirin, non-steroidal anti-infalmmatory
agents (i.e. Ibuprofen, Alleve, Vioxx, etc.), Vitamin E, and all herbal
supplements as well as any dietary supplements which may interfere with
your blood's ability to clot properly. In addition, birth control pills
should be stopped 30 days prior to your surgery to limit the possibility
of a blood clot.
Will smoking interfere with my surgery?
If you smoke, it is imperative that you be free of any tobacco products
(including "the patch" and/or nicotine gum) for at least 6 weeks
prior and 2 weeks after your surgery.
