Tummy tucks, or abdominoplasty as it is technically known, is a popular procedure performed to re-shape the abdomen for cases in which there is significant laxity of the abdominal muscular envelope (often seen in women who have had multiple pregnancies), excess skin of the abdominal wall making simple liposuction fall short (as the excess skin will remain after the fat is removed), and sometimes for those with poor scarring of the skin and/or stretch marks in the lower abdomen area.
